I am building a prerunner out of my 4x4 and I want to convert the front end to 2wd basically but I'm leaving the the rest of the 4wd in tact. I want to be able to basically have the option of going into 2wd low.

I took my front driveshaft out to see if my 4wd would go into low but it won't it'll only go into hi. Is there some bypass so that it'll go into low without the front 4x4 junk there. basically I want the transfer case to go into low and only operate at the rear.

Is there a bypass so that the transfer case will engage?

It should go into low if it go's into high. Did you have the transmission in neutral when you tried? I dont know how the transfer case would know there was no front drive shaft.

I would suggest manual hubs. Then you can have 4wd when you want it. UNless you are building a prerunner that will never do anything else. Your Low issue could be a few things. First and foremost I would make sure you were in N like he said. The case is electric and will Not allow you to go into low when in gear. If it still isnt going its probably your shift motor. The switch into low is much more dificult than the switch into 4

Also remember to hold down the brake while in N and pushing the low button. :banghead:
