so i went off roading in cleghorn ca today with some fronteir buddies and found out i should get a locker

we tried the mild trails and found out life on 2x4 is much easier with lockers

one of the fronteirs that was with us had a nismo package which includes lockers and he was doing basically every mild crawling the 4x4 fronteir did while i was struggling and spinning the heck out of my wheels

so my question is this:

whats the cheapest most affordable and reliable way to lock my rear end out on the trails while still having comfort on the roads

thanks

btw. i used the search engine for about 30 mins reading as much as possible and no luck with my problem

and i just found out that i have an lsd rear end

how helpfull is dat?!?

With an LS rear, the only choice (short of swapping out the carrier) for a simple installation is a Powertrax.

i was but when we wer at jack in the box my buddies decided they wanted a longer trail

so we headed out that way

but we should plan somethin local soon

on another note

how does my ls rear work?!?

if one tire starts spinning does it lock the other tire for traction or will it just keep spinning?!?

How many miles do you have on the Trak-Loc? You can do a simple rebuild with new clutches for around $80-$120 depending on the clutch pack you buy. Ford has the stock clutches ($80) and a new kevlar version ($120). I rebuilt mine with the stock clutches at about 128,000 and it made a big difference. If you still have your National Springs for sale maybe we could work out a discount and I'd help you rebuild it. I'm right here in Fontana so you wouldn't have to travel far.

^ huh?!?

i dnt think that was ment for me, was it?!?

and if it was. i have no idea how many miles

i do want to rebuild it though

how do i go about puttin an extra clutch in it?!?

is there a rear end rebuild thread?!?

so my rear end has metal plates and clutches??

how do i kno which plate to replace?!?

Sorry, it was someone else that had the springs for sale. If you purchase some new clutches I'd be willing to help you rebuild it. PM me if you would like for me to help.

I rebuilt my ls almost a year ago. Here is the link to my thread when I had plenty of questions myself. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234360
If you read through that and look at the links, specifically the one from Albino which is the how to, you should know all you need to get your ls up and running to your needs. Good luck.

thanx a bunch guys

really helpful info

btw.

i took the explorer on a little run last night and realized i am in great need of shocks!

my truck was bouncier than a jumper

so my next question is, wat a good shock that is cheap
