I have a chance to buy a `77 F250 4x4. The guy told me that the rear axle is a Dana 60, but he is not sure about the front. Would this be a Dana 44 or were there options for this year? This will be the start of my winter project. It will either be for my Splash or my wife's 4-door X. He is selling it for $600.00.

Thanx in advance for any info.

9 times out of 10 its a dana 44hd low pinion. basically a 44 with bigger brakes, longer stub shaft, bigger hubs, and 8 lug. i currently have one and have owned many. there fairly strong until my 36s and 351 start to really get goin. i have broken the stub on the driver side a few times. but its under a bronco so heavier than an explorer.

Does it run? For $600 I'd pick it up,heck maybe running or not. Automatic c6?

Thanx for your help guys, I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow. It supposedly runs good. We'll see.
