Ok, im eventually going to get a 3inch body lift, but i cant afford tires and a lift at the same time, im thinking about getting the tires first, now can i get 31's and have no porblem with the rubbing or anything like that? right now our offroading place got shutdown because of some environment issue, so i wont be off roading for a while. second, im not to familiar with this gear thing, would i have to get different gears for my suv to run right? what about my speedo, will that read different? if so how do i get that fixed? thanks

Have you used the search feature at all?

This topic has been discussed more times than almost anything else.

you may have a problem with rubbing
your Speedo would be off by 5%
your X would probably be slower off the line with the bigger tires
you can fix the Speedo problem by going to your local ford dealer and picking up a new Speedo gear that will accommodate your larger tires. Not a hard install, look it up with the search feature.

The 99 Mounty doesn't have a speedo gear to change. The dealer can recalibrate the speedo through the computer programming. It'll cost you a little bit, but they can change it pretty easily from what I understand.

The tires shouldn't rub, even at stock height. I have the same setup.

Also you can buy a product from superlift called the truspeed that taps into your rear abs wires and calibrates the speedo.

See that.. even i learned something new here... lol
speaking of which.. how did you fix your prob with win2k jason? created new boot disks or you typed in winnt in the i386 directory?

Hey Jason.....will that work for a 95 explorer? I just swapped my speedo gear today from a 19 to a 20 tooth and now the speedo needle is bouncing??!#

I don't know exactly. Why not call them? It wouldn't tap into your rear abs wires I know, because your 95 uses the VSS from your transfer case, maybe it can tap into that?
