33's with NO lift

for a vehicle as heavy as our X's
I was thinking mine was very light :) I have been running mostly full sized rigs so to me a 2 door x in light. But i didnt really think about stability with those tires. Even with no lift you think they may be unstable? and as for gears. I know you guys are firm believers in changing them. AND FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS TOO. but I don't see the importance. at least not for me. Yes my X is my daily driver but my daily driving is next to nothing. I put about 2000 miles a year on my X if even that. I use company vehicles more than my personal.

But here is a hypothetical question: What if this was turned into just a trail rig. what gears would I want? Or what if it was driven on the street daily and used as a weekend warrior trail rig? Then what gears? Might as well get as much info as I can

For 33"-35" tires, the general consensus is something like 4.10 for dd, 4.56 for dd/off-road, 4.88 for hardcore, and 5.13+ if you are just going to go damned big later on.

...or at least That's my take on it.

you are correct not sure what happened, lol

@DoraAExplorer looks like you meant to post in a different thread?

okay I will ask
WHAT GEARS ARE IN YOUR 94 SPORT NOW? from the factory?
Some 5 speeds came with 4.1
Some came with 3.55
Makes a big difference when deciding 31 vs 32 vs 33" tires

FYI, this thread got necroed.

I ran 33x9.50s and then 33x12.50s. With the pizza cutters it was fine with a 2" suspension lift. For the 33x12.50s I had to add a 2" body lift and do some trimming.

Mine was a 5-speed with 3.27 gears and that was BARELY adequate with the stock 29" tires. With the 33s it was terrible. Fifth gear was unusable. Had I kept it as a weekend warrior I would have gone with 4.56 gears. Instead I did a SAS with 1-ton axles, 5.38 gears, and 40" tires and cut out the middle steps.
