i'm wanting to run 35's on my 96 x. right now i have 32's with tt and shackles and aal. I was thinking about doing a soa in the back (with original shackles) and getting a 4" lift for the front, then putting on either the 2" or 3" body lift. has anyone done this or know if i could fit the 35's then? thanks

Yes they would fit.

Or you could just do the suspension and trim some since you have an XLT.

Don't count on the front drive components holding up for long though.

you mean the 4" lift in the front will break? i've heard things about it but what other options are there?

The option I am doing for Is a solid axle swap using a dana 44 in front. I believe Corry at CRL customs is working on a kit for the 2nd generation Xs you might want to contact him to see when it will be ready.

This would provide a tremendous amount of strength and articulation if done right.

For my 97 sport I am going to run a 3 link with coilovers up fron and SOA in the rear. I plan to run 35" xterrains when completed.

Hope that helps a little

best thing to do is a search

no he means the driveline itself, not the lift.

Actually even after all that, depending on what rims, tires, and offset you get you still may have to trim. I still rub a lot with my 33s that's why I haven't put my 35s on yet. I'll probably have to go with Fiberglass Fenders instead of cutting the sheet metal.

Try measuring your wheel wells? Its 34" at the bottom of mine on 95-00. The big problem is the back of the wheel well. You will have to trim/cut a considerable amount even with 4" lift. 01+ Sport (trac) dont have that problem.

id say definitly, I have a 95 with 3" lift spindles, aout 2.5 from the torsion bars and 35's fit with no problems, mtrs also they are big for there size. I think i could have even gone to a 37 with some trimming

Xplodor, yes, but he has an XLT w/o fender flares. You can trim it significantly without it looking bad. You can't on the models with fender flares.

The ball joints, hub assemblies, and CV joints will wear alot with 35's.

i wonder if the fenders for the same year rangers would fit my x? i was just looking at one outside and the backs don't curve down as much as the x's, they go back more instead. is there anything i can do to eliminate the wear on these parts with 35's? shouldn't the suspension lift be better for my cv joints than having my torsion bars cranked up? also, i'm going to run bfg all-terrains like i have now, i wouldn't trade them for the world. i don't think i'll have trouble fitting them i just don't want to break some expensive stuff, i am going to sink all the money i get from selling my cherokee into my x to fix it up, plus it is mainly for looks first, performance second. i do go offroad but not as much as i would like because i don't have the time or money to pay for the things i might break.

Check out Lizardtrac's ride. He has 35's on his X.

you will need to trim, a lot

klowns has 35's on his 95......you can find his thread in the before and after forum...also...he had to trim alot...and they still rub!!! Good Luck!!

35s WILL fit, but expect premature wear and A LOT of trimming to the sheet metal. If you have flares, I've coe up with a way to keep them on, but you will still have to trim even more and drill new holes. I've opted not to keep my flares even though I like them and just go glass fenders all the way around.

I have a 4" suspension lift and 2" body lift and couldn't run 35's. Even my 33's rub at full compression, so it seems that some can and most can't without major trimming of the fenders.

Well with my set-up with my wide tires/rims/offset it's harder to fit 35s then say Jefes set-up because they don't stickout as far. If you want minimal trimming, check out the specs on Jefe's rims and tires, it will be a lot easier. I have 33s on right now, and after trimming and removing flares I'm still rubbing.:(

Everyone else seems to have gotten to this thread first so I'll leave you with two little pieces of advice:

1) Rim specs are a big factor in rubbing like Xploder mentioned (I'm running 15x8.5's standard backspacing and he's running 15x10's I think)

2) The Sawzall is your friend :)

Jefe's right, my offset sux, but that's what fiberglass is for!!! Anyway, Jefe's running a good set-up, and yes, the Sawzall, hammer, and grinder are your friend.:hammer:
