3rd generation Bumper registry

This one was made for the Sierra (Lake Tahoe, Blue Canyon) snow, but we are still in So CA. So for now, street meat But soon enough...

Thanks! The rear bumper was finished today... the 8ft(?) wire antenna was added and the bumper cover is steel. There was a "disagreement" and nearly a couple skirmishes. I learned that you never ask more than one person to fabricate something for you - money is slim and people get in each others faces over who was asked first...

How's the tire/tyre carrier coming along RB? How's JCUZ' working? (Fog was heavy this morning)

Both bumpers are steel - the rear is all steel.

Can you recap, what are all the antennas for? Don't you have 2 on the front bumper and now the 8' on the rear?

Donner - that looks great. My wheel carrier works fine - I only use it when leaving town though, as the truck won't fit in the garage with wheel carrier attached. I would wait and see what RB made though, and probably go with his setup; his hinge and latch look much sturdier than mine so I would expect the whole thing to be that much better than what I did.

That's the Same CB antenna I've got mounted on my rear bumper Donner,
As far as my rear tire carrier, it's going well, the hinge came in on friday, I haven't had a chance to get it welded on yet though.

My friend have me his swing out carrier that was on his blazer. So eventually im going to have the welding shop in school make mounting brackets and im gonna drill it into the rear quarter panel and make some sort of support brackets on the inside. It looks good in my head at least. lol

I put an antenna tab on 3 corners and the top, also used the mag mount to see where the best reception comes from. The mag mount was the best due to the height, I would imagine. Only problem is I had to zip tie it or it would blow over on the fwy at 80 or 90 (sometimes you have to do those speeds, 80 sustained is not uncommon in some areas). But the best reception and transmission was with the metal antenna and the Cobra 29. The smaller Uniden did not do as well, but was excellent with the Wilson 4 ft antenna... after the tuning SWR and the dealy on the Wilson, no change. I think overall, the antenna made the difference in quality.

The metal antenna will also be able to carry a flag (I have another tab planned to keep the antenna from moving much.

So you're using all three antennas simultaneously? Cool...or did i miss something?

Only two... the metal, which is stretched all the way past the center of the roof rack; and I will keep the Wilson on the front tab... but only using one at a time. In a thunderstorm, I would take that metal antenna down... The 2ft antennas are off, and the mag mount would not be used during storms either...

I still keep the hand held cb just in case... And this is cool, you can run a cb off the battery charger's 12v plug in if you have a cig lighter soldered cb. I imagine it would work well, tho I haven't tried it.

Will there be internal and external tyre/tire carriers?

Ha! Thanks, but it took a lot of mistakes and corrections to get to this point. I didn't know it would come down to some of the things it did. But, man, what an experience! Man, we all wanted to pop each other in the mouth at one point or another... The difference with these guys is they are independent workers - I didn't know. a LOT of mistakes $$$

Hey Donner, thought id re-vive this thread! Did you ever mount those mini step bars?? what brand are they? and your trim, did you take off the thick door panles and add the thinner xls ones?

Funny you should ask Unfortunately, I could not mount the steps due to disability - fall risk. And my front bumper, long story short, I will have to remove it - again due to disability. Things change fast... but I'm going to have a modified front end regardless, it just can't be the one I have now. Confusing? I'm crushed.

Door panels are gone... all the holes are covered with diamond plate aluminum... this will stay.

wow, so u have to remove the bumper you've been working on? that really blows man, really sorry to hear that

I tried work out a compromise on the restructure, but at this point it's safer for me to just go with the flow... It took a lot of time to put that monster together, and only a few cuts at the welds will take it off - not fair. The good thing is that we can have a 3rd gen bumper - and you don't have to remove the headlamp assembly to change bulbs. I'm happy overall... I can keep driving for a while longer... but it would be nice if a vendor built 3rd gen bumpers... does anyone build 3rd gen bumpers here?
