First generation bumper removal.

hey there my name is chris just bought a 94 explorer turning it into a prerunnner. i have a question im not sure how to take off the front and rear bumper this truck was involved in a three car acident and the bumpers are messed up?

welcome chris

Should be 4 bolts holding the bumper to each bumper. 2 on each frame rail,on the rear, make sure you unplug the wires going to the license plate lights.the bolts are joined on the heads with a metal strap,so after taking the nuts off, just tap the bolts out of the frame.(assuming that the factory fasteners are still there)

I just got done doing this today.
1st pull off the plastic cover on the core support
2nd pull off the grill 2 screws on to 2 clips on bottom
3rd pull off the headlight Besels 2 screws on top and some gentle prying on bottom
4th there is 4 bolts holding on the bumper, the nuts are on the inside of the frame. Take the 4 nuts off pull the bolts out and the bumper should just fall off.

It is only about 30 minutes extra work to take the grill and all that stuff off, but it gives you a lot more room to work with.
