4.0 sohc rod knock

Hey y'all. My sport just climbed over the 210k mile mark and with that it developed what I think is a slight rod knock. has anyone else had this problem and rebuilt and how difficult is it to rebuild and how much does/ did it cost? Thanks.

Are you sure its a rod? reason I say that is mine had the same affliction at close to the same mileage (224) and it turned out to be a cracked flex-plate (assuming you have an automatic trans). Mine has close to 330 on it now, runs like a Timex! It even lost oil pressure once around 240 and never made a sound. I only put a pump in it on a wing and a prayer, still going strong, drive it daily

Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's a rod or piston slap. Cause it's only a cold start up thing.

SOHC? If so, have you ruled out timing chain guides? Cold start rattle IS the red flag, and achilles heel of this engine.

I havent yet ruled that out. But I have thought of it. Thanks for the link I will read it diligently
