I totally agree with Heath and I think you are failing to understand just how complex your tranny and t-case are. It HAS to be done this way or no way at all. I don't blame your dad for being suprised at the suggestion to switch the tranny out either. Buy an old Jeep and tow it around with your explorer. That way you don't compromise your explorer's reliability and will end up with a vehicle much more trailworthy too. My 2 cents.
 






I agree. But my dad is freaking out over every little thing. So I just need to install the parts slowly over time, so he won't notice as much as if I were to pull up one day with a new axle in it. So I just need to gather information, and install the parts.

Hey I was wondering what is the technical name for the axle that I need to buy for the conversion? I want the stock axle, so if anyone can offer the name many thanks.
