4.6 Motor Failure

Can anyone tell me whether the 4.6 is a free running motor( i.e. valves dont hit pistons if timing chain detaches)

I have a 2002 limited with 130000 kilometres on it and the timing chain has come of 1 camshaft. I need to know whether there is likely to be damage to valves and pistons on that bank.
Also can anyone recommend a US supplier of engine parts?

update

for anyone interested failure resulted in damage to valves and rocker arms. one rocker arm appeared OK but failed after about a month. suggest replacing all. Problem caused by failure of chain guides. Ford apparently changed the design of these in late 02 and later builds. certainly replacement ones did not match originals.
