Truck is on stands stands, wheels off,4 wheel drive engaged, all spin except passenger side.Would bad half shaft be problem?Ive had explorer 10 yrs no problems till this year.I like to get things fixed first time due to my health,,being a disabled vet makes things harder than normal, plus I'm not to internet savy. Thanks for adding me to this helpful site, well it was nice out here in Wyoming so i just started turning wrenches and found cv axle was bad headed to parts store to get new one, hopefully tomorrow explorer is up and running again, need to get out and do some arrowhead hunting and have my 12 yr old daughter start practice shooting cuz it's first yr she'll be big game hunting.thanks again I'm out.

Yes Sir,only front passenger does not spin,it moves one inch stops moves one inch and I can stop that with my hand.

Hmm, it does have an open differential in front. Apply just a tad of brakes and see if the right front starts driving.

I bet if you could hold the driver side front wheel still the passenger side would start spinning. In an open differential drive goes to least resistance, which would be the driver side cv axle, as the passenger side does have a half shaft also which does increase resistance.

Make sense?

Now, if the whole diff make a racket when the passenger wheel turns, or, the passenger wheel will not turn with driver wheel held stationary, we have issues
