40 series on a V-6 OHV

could someone please do me a huge favor and either e-mail me a link or a post a sould clip of your V-6 with flowmaster 40's on it. Thank you all very much. I;m planning on going this route and would like to hear if for myself, b/c everybody has different opinions on what sounds good. Thanks again.

OMG!!! that sounds awesome. I few questions though. Are you running dual or single exhaust, and if youre running dual, did you go with the 2.5 in/2.25 dual out muffler?? and also is that the original series, or the delta flow. thanks for the clip and thanks in advance for your info.

Hehe, it's an original 40, 2.25 in and out. I also have headers and a test pipe (cat delete) though. The test pipe lowered the sound but didn't make it much louder. I also cut off at the outlet, so I have no tailpipe.

huskyFan....i have a borla system but i am curious...did the headders make it sound better or worse? and did you notice any power gains in low end as headders are supposed to provide?

so just the muffler and tailpipe won't sound anything like that then???

It'll be higher pitched. I didn't notice a sound difference (nor power) with the headers, but that was with the tail still attached. The headers are a rip IMO, but people get impressed when they find out I have headers on an Explorer. The downside is I'm sure my torque is real low considering I have barely any backpressure now.

Muffler was $60, though I bought the Force II set at first, which was $160, I kept the cat to muffler pipe, and sold the 50 series for a 40. The test pipe was made by a guy on eBay, cost me $100 shipped. If the headers have something to do with the sound, those were $200 (I got a real good deal on the board). It sounds much better in person, and is louder than the 5.9L R/T Durango.

huskyfan23's sounds exactly like mine does. Then again mine's also the same year, same engine, same flowmaster. I'll try to get a clip of mine up when I get the time
