basicaly can it be done? I assume the belhousing just bolts up but what about the transfer case? kickdown cable and shifter? oh and the flywheel and torque converter? same or would I need to change out the flywheel

there is more to it then that.

The newer tranny is computer controlled, alot more than your A4LD is. So some serious work mmust be done to get it to worl, whether it is a stand alone transmission controller spliced in, or re-working the entire Gen 1 system to accomodate the added functions of the newer tranny.

Yes it will bolt up for the most part, physically.

better off going with the 700R4 man. time to go to a junkyard and rip apart a s-10, then give advance adaptors a call
 






just a matter of cost. I dont need a tranny to go more than 6 months or so till i drop in the 302. I got a parts truck heading my way but not sure I want to put the manual in it.
