haven't tested yet, despite having dual band radios.
I'm cross posting, as I posted this in the generation specific forum as well. Apologies, but I need some advice.

So installed my new head unit and sub today.

I wanted to install my backup license plate cam, however...

After popping off the interior tailgate panel, I realized this was going to be a job of it's own.

Im not sure how to run the cable into the tailgate, other than drilling a hole above the license plate, putting in a grommet, and sealing it.

And than there's running the cable up, to the side around the glass hatch, through the rubber wire loom, into the roof/headliner...ugh

Looking for input or opinions on how to go about doing this.

Just don’t mount it to the gate......... I’d install it under the bumper.

I did it exactly how you are describing. Been installed for over a year now without any issues. Running the cable was the easy part. Drilling in to the tailgate was the hard part (only because you only get one shot at it).

When I had my '06 xlt, we had it mounted just above the plate and attached underneath the chrome panel that says Explorer. I used the same gromet hole as the license plate light. Just cut a little groove for the wire. Worked perfect.
