Hi guys,
I've got an 08 4.6L making a grinding/crunchy noise upon startup. I've pinpointed the sound to the passenger idler pulley by using a metal pole. The sound stops after the engine and bearings warm up a bit. I listened as best as I could to the other pulleys and those didn't make a whole lot of noise. The belt tensioner was kind of bouncing up and down, I'm not sure if that's normal operation.
Question -
Does anyone have a specific belt diagram with detail on the types of pulleys? I've looked online but could only find diagrams for 2005 Explorers or 4.6L in F150s.
I believe there are only 2 idler pulleys and I believe they are both exactly the same. RockAuto lists them as "Passenger" specific. I keep finding a grooved pulley included in these kits, but I have no idea where it goes.
I'm also wondering if these are supposed to be torque speced? I can't find that information either.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!
