4wd not engaging.

Looking to buy a used 1994 explorer 4x4. Light on dash says the 4wd is engaged, but it is not. know very little about Explorer transfer cases and the button on the dash.Where / what do I look for to start trouble shooting?

There's a forum sticky at the top of the Stock 91-94 Explorer forum called 4x4-Troubleshooting. That should get you started and in most cases, answer all your 4x4 questions. It really helps to use the site's "search" feature.

Wanting to buy a 94 explorer, but the 4wd doesn't engage. The dash light comes on though. It has Automatic hubs.. what should I look for to trouble shoot?
