4WD or AWD??

I have a 2000 explorer XLT with a 4.0. Whats the easiest way to determine if it's 4WD or AWD? I'm new to explorers and 4wd type trucks. This truck definitely isn't 2WD. This is my girlfriends truck and I'm just starting to take care of it. The insurance company asked today if it was AWD or 4WD and I'm not familiar enough to exactly know the difference on this one. There is a knob to the left of the radio that reads " auto, hi, lo" The car doesn't have any kind of locking hubs, but obviously has CV halfshafts up front.

The engine . If its the 4.0L v6, its 4wd. Conversely, if its the 5.0L v8, then its an AWD.
