4x4 control module update

As some may know from my previous post that the dealership did a diagnostic test on my 4x4 system and found out my control module was bad. So I went to a local junk yard. We looked at 8-10 explorers and none of the part numbers matched mine. Went back to the main office he asked for my part number and then gave me a list of part numbers that would interchange. I was skeptical since I read on here that the part numbers had to match. Well I took one of the interchangeable part numbers and tried it. Low and behold my 4x4 dash lights come on and it goes into 4 lo 4 hi and back into 4 auto. The part number was the same as mine except mine ends with a "bd" and the new one I got ends in a "be". So far so good. No flashing lights or noises.

glad to hear. Did you do a VIN search or what?

We gave ford my VIN and the old part #. They reduced it to one specific and updated part #.

No Vin search. When he looked it up he asked for the part number I was looking for and what year my explorer was.
