I am in the process of converting my explorer to 4x4. the only problem i came across is that the Speed Sensor cable is to short to go into the transfer case. what would be the best way to fix that?

Extend it ;) Cut it, and splice in a set of wires.

its not electrical i'm sure what its called but its that speedometer gear that goes into the speedometer..... i cant really cut it and splice it...

i would go to j/y as recommended.Where are you located?im in callahan fl and i have a extra 4wd cable and 1354 borg wraner t-case,still hooked together.(needs a 4wd shifter motor), and a 150 borg warner t-case.

Blacksheep,if you per say that the hubs and brake's, wheel beerings, axle shaft's,drive shafts(since there is now two),tailhousing for transmission, t-case is full, tierods and pitman arm are in good faith.and most of all drilling out the driver side axle pivot bracket which will take some time to do,then you have to mover the brack et on the outside of the cross member and replace bolts.most of all make sure they are all in good shape, it shouldnt be more than 16 hours to install with no help.
unless it;s auto then you'll have to get the tcase wiring harness and pushbutton, then map it some a power feed and ground.

I would recomed rebuilding the 4wd front end before install. It's so much easier to work on outside of the vehicle. With parts being so cheap why hurry up to make something fail.

led zepplin166 do you have picture's of the install?

it wasn't too bad i did it over a couple months. the first thing i did was buy a 4 inch lift kit and did that and the front axle at the same time. the hardest part for that was getting the rivets out of the frame for the new brackets. the axle then just bolted right on. then a couple months after that my trans died when i was offroading so i took that trans out. I had the trans out of a 4x4 explorer but it was also bad so i had that rebuilt. I got the trans back from the shop about a week ago so i put that in there then went the transfer case. i had to buy a rear drive shaft because the parts explorer was a 4 door and mine is 2 door. the u-joints were bad on it so i bought new ones for it but the old ones will not come out so tomorrow im going to take it to a shop to see if they can replace them for me.

so right now it is sitting in my garage waiting on trans fluid and a drive shaft. hopefully it will be running tomorrow for the fist time in a month and it is my only car and daily driver so i cant wait to get it driving again. driving my moms mini van to work every day isnt to fun....

oh... and i might have some pictures from the front axle install but i gotta find them
