1998 explorer sport 4x4
I have a 98 v6 explorer sport. i recently had it stuck it 4x4low and had to drive it around to get it to pop out of low and back into high. the wierd thing is that when it was stuck in low, the 4x4 dash lights work normally. Said it was in high when high was selected. turned off in auto. said low when low selected. however i could not hear the tc motor clunking around like it should between low and high. well its back in high now, and the lights are all corrosponding to the selector knob normally. but i no longer have low (even though the light on dash lights up) also no clunking noise. and i suspect the 4wd is no longer working. Any ideas?

Transfer Case shift motor and/or assembly (electrical contacts) failed/misadjusted/loose.

Check fuses first. imp

Ok finally got a chance to get under there to take a good look. checked all connections and cleaned as best as could. went into low no problem. however wont back out to high. since i had the time today, i took the tcmotor off and manually put it in high. cleaned more checked wires. i turned the switch to high while the motor was off the tc and the motor worked fine. tried it multiple times. goes into low fine but wont come out while hooked up to the tc. time for a new motor? also, 4wd seems to be working again. thanks for your help and insight.
