4x4 Issues - 94 explorer EB Manual Hubs

i took a video so you could hear the noises coming from the front end. ignore the loud exhaust, lol.

0:00 - 0:40 hubs off, button on
1:00 - 1:50 hubs on, button on
2:00 - end hubs off, button off

if it is a ujoint, and im using the 4x4 cause im in a bad situation, and it goes, can i still put the truck back into 2 wheel drive and keep going?

Sorry but I can't really hear the noise in the video.. If you're driving in 4x4 and a Stub axle U-joint goes it will most likely destroy the ears on the axle shaft(s). In most cases (95%) you could shift back into 2wd, unlock your hubs and can drive fine.

sounds to me just like the u-joints. I have the same exact noise and don't really worry, because it works. I have auto hubs, so your hubs are not the problem. Just sounds like u-joints. I wouldn't worry too much, but you can replace them.

one of the u joints axis is stiff while the driven one is ok they form a cross because one is abnormaly stiff from non use and being strained has seized causing loping action when engaging maken all kinds of thumpin and chewin seals


I was wondering if I could soak my outer axels in in ATF with the joints
for a couple days after cleaning em up a friend told me to put em in cider he ha there both about 5 buck a quart
