no thanks, i like to be very involved in my projects and do work myself. Thanks for the continual comments about money though. Just becuase i have money doesnt make me lazy nor pay someone else to accomplish my goals. If money comments really arent neccesary so they can stop here.

well i have been searching around. on dezert rangers i saw a 4runner that i liked. It had the shocks at the rear doors. That is something i will figure in. But the difference is that i will have a two seat bench in the back. Does the angle of the rear shocks affect travel? http://dezertrangers.com/cgi-bin/ib/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=12;t=18628;st=120 this is the link, scroll all the way down to the last post. I was thinking of a higher angle, so the back seat is useful. I noticed the link is at floorboard hieght, so i would have to make a custom floorboard, and seat brackets. Also, can the radiator be mounted higher with scoops like on the back? would i have to just get longer lines to make that possible. That isnt too important but something else i am thinking about right now.

this is real rough, but i did it so i could show you my thought on how to keep the rear door functional for occupants.does the angle of the red line matter?

That 4 runner be bad ass

I admire your will, and will is all it takes if you are determined to see this project to fruition.

if you wrecked, the beams for the rear door would look like they would buckle. It would need a cross bar or something like that to tie it in to the rest of the cage. What is the red and yellow line?

that wasnt all the cage i meant, but the red lin would be a shock, and the yellow is the truss? im not sure the term for it, but follow the link and view more pages about that 4runner to see what i mean. i like his rear-end setup, i just want to have a functional back seat.

oh thought so. With that travel the 4runner is putting out, i doubt you will be able to put a rear seat in. These trucks have ungodly mounts of travel in the rear, and that link on the trus of the axle would come up where the floor is. (they had a camera showing the back of a excursion pre runner...the whole axle would go where the floor is when bottonming out)

Frankly with the reduced head room i think it would be very dangerous for the rear passengers. Even though you have a cage, in a high speed wreck, they still crumple a bit, not to mention the sheetmetal as well. I say run 2 track bars and deaver springs for the rear. Use some bilsteen 5100's or somethin like that. There is a guy you might like who makes cages, get some ideas form him. http://www.bbpfab.com/12401.html

ive seen that 4 runner in person and it is a work of art. why dont you email somebody over at perrys fab n fiber and ask for pics of the back seats on one of their linked explorers. they dont gut the rear of the truck as much as that 4 runner was and still got 25" of wheel travel

i think that is a good idea. Im not trying to make mine a work of art by any means, with all the added plates and such. Maybe after i get it functional then i will have stuff like that done. I have a pretty good idea about my rear setup now. I am going to assume that the angle of the shocks doesnt matter, because some trucks have them at the upper rear of the cab. As far as the front is concerned i am still going back and forth about a arms or beams, i wont do j arms. I dont like their design. Ive looked on fox and king, neither showed coilovers for 19"+ travel. I guess i know my limit.

this again is real rough. But this is my thought. I might replace the bench with two racings seats next to eachother with a tubing going inbetween. I will also have the shocks covered, that is my the areas have spray hatching. With removable top covers so i have access to the actual mount for maintenance and such.

you dont set up the linked rear with a 1:1 shock to wheel travel ratio, if you wanted you could probably get 30" of wheel travel easy out of a 19" coilover, you could probably do a 14 or 16" and be fine for around 20-25" here take a look:

and that to me looks like a 14" coilover, not sure tho but you get the idea...

Here's a rough idea.

not so much the angle of the shock, but where you place it along the length of the lower trailing arm which will dictate how much of a shock stroke to use

setting your coilovers up in this manner is referred to as "mechanical advantage"

since i am gonna build my own front bracket for beams, is it feasible to use f150 beams, with the weight of the v8 and all? is there any advantage to that?

So far i think i have a good idea on what i am gonna do. Its time to start taking measurements and make templates and other things of this nature.
