I am in the middle of putting a 5.0 into a 4.0sohc explorer. Got everything switched out, but it will not start. I am getting fire, but no fuel from the injectors. I do have fuel to the rails, but it is not injecting the fuel. I thought that maybe I mixed up the eec's, so I hooked up the v6 eec up and it ran(very rough, but it ran. Did I miss something?

Fact that it fired at all with the wrong PCM (eec), suggests several things: the EEC power relay is turning on, fuel pump is turning on, you are getting ignition, those are positive facts.

Do you have a wiring diagram for the EEC system? I would check that the "pin-out" for the PCM, i.e., connections to the injectors, are correct. Or, in other words, are you using the 5.0 harness to connect to the PCM, or the 4.0 harness? The 4.0 will most definitely not work with the 5.0 PCM, I think.

Other possibility, bad 5.0 PCM? imp

I just noticed that the "theft" light is blinking while the 5.0 pcm is hooked up, but it operates as it should with the 4.0 pcm hooked up. Is the PATS paired with pcm?

Also, it fires, but that is about all it does with the 4.0 pcm installed. There is no throttle or anything other than a very rough idle.

What years are you dealing with? And yes pats stuff is paired

X2 if you used the same year donor truck, or parts did you also swap the ignition cylinder and ring that goes around it? if you mixed and matched parts from different years, you are going to have one hell of a wire repin job on your hands

I am putting the 5.0 from a 98 mounty into a 2000 ex. I rolled the mounty, so I have all the donor parts.

I changed the PATS module and the key cylinder, do I need to change the ring too?

Yes

OK, I found the problem. Someone had a remote starter installed and it took me a while, but I found that they had the chip glued to the receiver and zip tied under the dash. Took that loose and put the ring back where it belonged and it fired right up. Thanks for your help.

Now for my new problem... The high pressure switch for the A/C. On the V6 it appears the wiring was part of the engine harness, But on the V8 it is part of the body wiring. Can anyone tell me where these wires end up, so that I can run some new wiring?

Thank you all.
Dave
