Anyone with a 5.0L running a bigger than stock MAF? I know that it will require tuning, but that's happening soon anyway.
Heads are ported and the intake is ported to accept a 75mm throttle body (kind of annoying since I have to source larger aftermarket gaskets but have smaller TB). I already know how to adapt a "Mustang" throttlebody to fit the Explorer intake and those are available in 70-75 mm sizes. What I don't know is the MAF. I'm looking for something in the 75-85 mm range that will attach to the stock air box and intake tube. May rig up a better flowing fresh air intake later, but that is a project for later.
Larger MAFs may have been sold for these in the past, but nothing seems to be these days. I know that with custom tuning there is a lot more leeway in what can be used. So I'm just curious what/if people have used as an upgrade with associated tuning changes.
May be a pointless question at this time, the Explorer MAF and Throttlebody were at one point considered an upgrades for the 5.0L Mustangs, so they are probably good enough for my purposes for now. If I think I'm going to want it in the near future, I'd rather have it in place before I start getting tuned. Even if it's not used now I'd like to have the information for future modifications.
