5.0L fuel lines in a 92 X

when you use the mustang fuel rails. how do you get them to hook up to the existing explorer fuel rails????They are on the oposite sides of each other???

OKay slow down.
I assume you are installing a 5.0L engine in your 92 Explorer
What year 5.0L engine?

Basically you will have to make fuel lines. You can buy the nylon fuel line and attach the tripple flare ends yourself.

However on my 97 Explorer 5.0L engine the fuel lines were on the correct side for the explorer 4.0L, all I had to do was plug them in, I took it a step further and rebuilt both lines in order to get a custom fit and length
 






Well it is out of a 92 lincoln mark 7 LSC.I noticed that the lines exit by the air pump(which i removed) but the lines from my 92 Explorer 4.0L on the frame rail are on the opposite side.
 






either get yourself better suited fual rails, aftermarket or another 5.0L truck, or you will have to fabricate fuel lines.
I think Chief302 used a fuel rail exiting on the pass side, like your situation, you might look through his 5.0L conversion thread for ideas.

Again my 97 Explorer 5.0L engine allowed me to connect the 4.0L lines to the 5.0L engine with 0 mods
 






Or try and find Explorer 5.0L fuel lines.....

That could be hard to do, i may have to watch ebay. I rather do it right than Mickey Mouse....

I was going to ask. What did you do for a rad for your 5.0L swap. I am looking to get a under support rad.Possably a custom built.Probably cheaper than buying a Griffin or Fluidine in Canada.

I found a set of fuel lines...problem solved for fuel.....Now i need to figure out a rad
 






well I have a bunch of information about my radiator fitment, the unit I purchased, why, how much, and how it fit the truck in my conversion thread.

there are radiators on the market built to fit under your rad support, personally I think they are too pricey ($450+) I did the same thing, but ended up with a much larger unit, a better unit, and for cheaper.
 






Yeah, the price is a little out there for a smaller rad that they probably have in stock for a 64 mustang.....I will have to look into it. I may just see what a rad shop can do for a "custom" rad to fit in that spot.

thats cool, my conversion was 90% easier because I learned from what others had done previously. :)

A local shop should be able to build a tank to your specs.
During my research I found they make standard size cores and side tanks pretty much throughout the industry, so they all build similar sizes and shapes.

The BII core support accepted a Nascar standard Ford layout radiator tank, this cut the cost down considerably because Ron Davis, who built mine, didnt have to re-invent the wheel, they just had to customize a tank they already built.
The Explorer core support should not be any different.

My tank is 6" wider then the AA or Duff conversion radiator (same unit, made by AA, Duff is cheaper) I was able to fit it simply by cutting 2" of sheet metal per side from my stock core support and of couse fabricating mounting brackets.
I supplied Ron Davis with an AutoCAD drawing, it got faxed back and forth a few times for coordination, then when the unit arrived it was EXACTLY what I had drawn. This also allowed me to prepare the truck for the unit while they built it.
 






Sweet, sounds like you know what you are doing and how to do it right...This will be my first 5.0L swap into......anything.Right now i ma doing a 5.8L swap into a 5.0L Mustang...pretty straight forward....This xplorer will require me to work for my results.

So what did you do for accel cable????did you use the on from the 5.0L explorer you had???
 






throttle cable will depend on the intake you have, for mine I was using a '94 mustang intake so I ordered a lokar (sp) custom cable for a '94 mustang (cable kit is all in peices so you can change it as you need too)

Welcome to my world of gathering odd parts to fit the v8 conversion!

I'll start with the throttle cable. A member from this site suggested one from a late 80's thunderbird/cougar with a 3.8 v6. Guess what? It's a perfect fit for mine. It fits the gas peddal hole perfectly, clicks right into the firewall hole and is the perfect length to the throttle body bracket.

By the way, in my conversion, I'm using a '93 mustang style intake manifold with intake tube on the passenger side.

Oh ya.......THE 351 IS IN!!!!!!!!

I'll be ready to fire it up next week.

Radiator - Stock rad. I was about 1/4" too close to use the stock radiator mounting location. What I decided to do on Wednesday was cut out the stock lower mounts, lower the new ones about 2" and move them forward about 1 1/2". I had to trim out the underneath of the rad support to tuck in the rad about an inch.

I'll be using a "pusher" fan. I have plenty room out front for the fan and lots of room to change the belt without having to remove the rad.
