while i was doing the lift, i thought it was a good time to install the spring seats too. when i did, it threw the springs way out. i'm pretty sure that i installed them right, so why would they do that? can you not use them in conjunction? anyone else have this problem? i ended up taking them out for the time being and everything settled in where it should, but i'd like to put them back in and have a full 7" of lift on front and rear (already have shackles).

The holes for the lift are actually around 4" (use the same brackets for the 4" lift I believe), so the 1.5" extra from the springs put you just about at the limit of the alignment parameters. With the coil seats you're actually going about 1" too far for the alignment.

Make sense?

I saw where it said that the bracket was the same, but it's go a hole for the 4" and another for the 5.5". i understand what you're saying though. thanks.

I see. so it's the springs that give it the little extra umph? then add to that an extra inch and a half, and it starts getting goofy.

No, Superlift brackets would have to be set up for 4" and 5.5". I tried using a set of Superlift 4" coils on a Rancho 2.5" lift once and it was nowhere even close to aligning properly.

When you say it threw the springs way out, what exactly do you mean? It threw the camber out? Or made the springs bow outward?

the spring bowed forward. the lower spring perch was much further forward than the upper. once i took the spacers out, all was well.

Hmmm... I don't think I've seen that happen before... Maybe a stack of 1-3/8" I.D. washers welded together and placed over the coil stud would work better instead.

...I'm with Froader on this one...I have seen this when someone try's to add to new coils...It always show's up in the springs...;)

...And the F150 coil seats will be fine in the garage on the shelf, and will come into play in about 1-1 1/2 years when your new springs settle that much...:D

it'll probably take that long till i get this damn truck runnin right. lol.

i got a stack of washers under my coils... it lifted it about a inch and a half. of couse i'm on stock coils...

there in lies the rub. lol.

i needa get my lift on but the usps is being slow with my pitman arm...

i have the f150 seats with my 4" drop brackets & new 4" coils. had to get bigger adjustment cams but it all specs out fine. dont see why it wouldnt work with 5.5" drop bracket and 5.5" coils.

...It is common to add these to older lift springs as they settle...

...Adding these to new coil springs, would be like adding 2-4" new coils on a stock suspension without the drop brackets...It would not be adjustable with just new camber bushings...

...4" RC coils and 5.5" Superlift coils are also way different in stiffness...

Because the 5.5" springs use the 4" hole in the drop bracket.
