hey guys. got a shifting question on my 5 speed. is it ok to shift without the clutch. i know thats how the majority of semi's are shifted. i havent been taught how to shift the semi without the clutch yet lol. i know its less wear on the clutch. dont know if it hurts doing it to an explorer or not being its schincronized (sp? lol). just wondering if i should be doing it or not. thanks for the input!

Not a good idea at all. You can do it by matching RPM's but you wear out the tranny fast doing so. The 5 speeds aren't that strong as it is.

Wears the synchos faster. I got so good at it on a semi that you almost couldn't tell I was changing gears except for the sound of the turbo. Still caused me to fail a CDL re-test and that is when I stopped that foolishness.
