99 Sport with 72,000 miles. I finally got that dreaded thing fixed. Originally I pulled the VB and replaced the EPC, new Plate with Gaskets, and the new Ford blowoff valve, but all of that still did not fix it. I ordered a reman VB from "Central Valve Body" (very fair price, $274 or best offer) on ebay and put it in yesterday. I had to switch the sep plate cause it had the old one but it did come with the new Ford valve and "Sonnax Updates" (not sure what sonnax updates?). They were the only shop I found that garunteed their work. Shipping and packing were excellent and you could just tell by looking at the new VB that they had actually done everthing they said. I highly recommend them.
I had taken the VB out 3 times already (like changing oil now) and gotten quotes from 3 different tranny shops from $1800 to $2500. I feel the new EPC might have been a waste of money but for a total fix now of around $450I'm not complaining. I wish I could pinpoint the actuall problem for everbody but who knows?
What I do recommend if your having this problem is to save all of the hassle and put in a reman "KNOWN GOOD" VB instead of messing with yours since knowone here can really isolate the problem and the cost will be about the same by the time you are done. Big thanks to Glacier, Brooklynbay, Bent Bolt, and whoever wrote "Stairway to the Diary", sorry I dont remember. I wouldnt have ever even known what a VB was without you guys and you saved me and my family probably $2000 that I wasn't sure where I was gonna get.
