hmmm....
How can this be a Hight Intensity Discharge? HID does not use a halagon bulb to start with. This is a high output blue bulb system. I like the relays, it transfers more power to the bulb though. And you would have the blue look.

I think it's a pretty good price and know these aren't TRUE HID's. Therefore, would these be considered illegal? If so, would chances of being pulled over be pretty slim?

They will be brighter than stock for sure. The bulbs should have a D.O.T. # on them so it would be street legal. There's no law against running relays to your headlights. They make kits for that all the time. You might get pulled over a time or two until they figure it out you are legal, I dunno. I like the idea, just not the advertising. Someone might actually think they are HID conversions. There are HID conversions out there that are street legal. I think the price is down to around $400 or less. I'll have to keep an eye on these.

I'll be buying these, since I'm cheap :D - I'm sure these will look better, I may have some Silverstars for sale after I get these on. I just noticed they have HID 'covers', so I guess a blue slip-on cover. That's fine with me though. Thanks for the info! I also just found a site selling this same kit, saying the retail is $202.50, and they're asking $150.00, so I'm getting a deal.

That's cool. Let me know how they work.

If they get up to 140 watts you might want to keep a serious eye on the plastic lense housing...they'll melt.

Higher wattage = higher heat.

I had the 90/100 watt bulbs in mine with the aftermarket APC wiring harness so the original wiring wouldn't burn up from the heat of the higher watt bulbs.

The housings melted above the bulbs and I had to change the housings...needless to say I put in the real HID Conversions.

They're 10x better. Well worth the money. Only problem is you lose the high-beam. Unless you can find/afford the dual beam kit. Besides with HIDs who needs high-beams. :)

AND- if you've got glass lense fogs- you can get HID conversion for those too. :) Next on the agenda!

Oh, yeah. Thanks for the reminder.

So there isn't really a way to keep from overheating the housing.. is there? I'll still go ahead with the purchase but want to take precautions beforehand. And should I get a new wiring harness also?

It looks like the relay harness is all one piece so all the current will be right at the lamp. This would not require a wire harness swap. Let me know when you get it and how they want you to wire it up.

No way that I know of to keep the housing from melting...

The HIDs don't have that problem because they're only 35 watts, but they emit more light. Problem with the HIDs is $$$!

Better (heavier guage) wiring to even the stock lights will give you a little better light...just gotta remember the high wattage bulbs will cook the housing and you'll be buying bulbs left and right. The housing will fill with water when it rains.

I used to get about an inch of water in mine...they just never drained right.

There are little cloth breathers at the bottom of the newer housings and what look like plugs on the older ones...I've got the older ones in now because that's all I could find at a junkyard.

The APC Wiring harness is just a relay harness- sorry, should have said that...it connects to one of the original sockets to power the relays for high/low functionality.

It just gives you heavier guage wiring with power from the relays that are directly powered from the battery.

It's weird, last night I posted a bid snipe on Auctionstealer.com for the auction, but I guess it didn't place correctly, I checked today and all the auctions are over and I never bid. Not sure when he's listing some others but now I'm looking at these. I think with the price of probably having to buy new housings at least once, maybe these would be a better bet... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33649&item=2419873922 - Is this a true HID system since it's got the ballasts and everything?

After a closer look I see that 5000k isn't more of a blueish color... Is 6000k more blue?
