fuel pressure is tested right at the fuel rail on the engine, there is a Schrader valve for this purpose

Check all of your fuses including the "mega" fuse at the power distribution box

Check battery power make sure you have 12V+ and check the battery terminals, how do the wires look?

Is the check engine light on?
I pulled every fuse and relay. In c ab n under hood. Sprayed electronic cleaner at panels.. Scraped clean EVERY fuse n relay. Dabbled dielectric grease and double checked amp specs

 plug all the vaccum lines and cross ur fingers back fire...?. Still sounds like a crank or cam sensor... Broken timing chain guide? Did it run like new before u got gas or is that when it finally s** the bed?

When cranking does it register any oil pressure?
Maybe cam sensor issue, although a 96 should fire up even with a bad one, but that is not always the case

Not a bad idea to take the cam sensor off the synchronizer and have a look

If you have confirmed a good spark at the plugs
and you have 40 psi of fuel rail pressure
The next thing is a compression test

maybe timing chain broke, maybe something internal??

Double and triple check the coil pack wiring order. Those are easy to mix up when swapping the wires over. That can happen when replacing the wires, or the coil packs. Check those very carefully, and the connectors/wires plugged into them. The wires are old and fragile, be gentle with them always now.

Thanks Jamie, that's a great picture of the timing order for the 302 coil packs.

Was running just fine.. With its brand new transmission.. I checked to see if the gear selecet was right. N is

Can't get it running to see any codes.. Nothing prior.
What about checking for "Continuous Memory" codes ......... KOEO procedure ....maybe some small symptoms were brewing last time it was running and the system picked something up....
( I would mentally prepare for a jumped timing chain....hope I'm wrong )

Yes, check for all codes. My last 98 had a few codes but never showed the engine light.

I only checked for codes because I had a huge misfire last Winter. The codes were for a few cylinder misfires(P0302 etc), and something that pointed to the coil pack. No engine light, but I had huge gap plugs, and a bad coil pack due to the plug gaps. No dash light, but several error codes.

I've been switching from 3 batteries " do to cranking em to death"
would it still retain any info?.
Ill try regardless

No, when the battery is disconnected, only hard/bad error codes should be retained.
