On my 96 5.0, I sometimes get a "steering studder" turning left pulling slowly out of the drive or turning left going into our garage. ( Occurs at or slightly above idle speed) What can be done? Will a power steering fluid change or additive correct this? Truck has about 90K on it. Thanks- Mike

This is a common symptom with rack & pinnion steering systems. In fact it is common enough to have its own name, its called "morning sickness". Morning sickness occurs when the machined aera around the pinnion gear starts to wear (mainly due to age), which allows some of the power steering fliud to bypass until the rack warms up. The only way to fix it is to replace the rack & pinnion assembley.

Thanks, Mike. I appreciate your wisdom. Just hoping that changing fluid, ect..might help. Sounds like a pretty expensive job. MikeTEC
