96 v8 exp accel stagger?

Dont know the best way of wording this but basicly when im accelerating from say 40mph and i hit the gas with a fair amount of force to get it going up to a faster speed quickly the truck makes a loud thump sound and kinda just staggers for a second then takes off. now if im going slow enough or im not moving i can smash the peddle and nothing happens. Anyone got any ideas on where i may need to start looking to fix the issue. no dummy lights or anything like that are on also. its only been doing this for about 3 weeks and only if i give it good amount of gas once i hit like 40-50 if i just ease it up to speed it doesnt seem to do it.

not that long ago 6m at most. when it does this the whole vehicle jerks so. maybe thinking its got something to do with a bad mixture maybe not enough air or the maf isnt seeing how much air is being pulled into the motor so it has that hesitation. i could be very well something with the tranny but it doesnt feel like a slip and it doesnt do it between shifting gears.

I'd also try some good dry gas in it before doing anything major. Moisture in the gas can cause hesitation....

na moisture isnt the issue its hard to decribe in words i suppose what its doing its like a thump or clunk when i accelerate and its only at certain speed ranges like between 30-70 i was trying to recreate it the other night with and w/o od on but i ended up getting pulled over by a cop and having to explain why it was i would keep accelerating and decelerating even though he wasnt behind me or anyone else nor was i ever speeding so. haha
