96 V8 has no AWD

hummm think the black part is the tank pressure sensor, apparently it never comes out of the tank in one piece as the parts guy asked why I bothered buying a tank without also buying that piece...it was something like $80 at NAPA

That's bad. I'm NOT buying a whole new tank.

I recently helped my brother in law who broke his pressure sensor, we were able to get a used one in it's place. The old one came out, in pieces but it did come out.

This was without dropping the tank. You should be able to get it.


That tank looks pretty rusty though, are there any holes in it?

Tank should be ok.

I'm more worried about WHY THE FUEL LINE WAS LEAKING. Sorry for caps but I needed to make a point. Both lines look good so why would one be leaking and come apart by hand? If I need to make a separate thread I will.

Otherwise, everything else is just random j/y finds.

Forgive me but was it leaking from the fuel filter fitting area, or, was it in the fender well connection area?

If it was on the fuel filter lines, the damage occured when changing the fuel filter. We pulled that one also but in our defense the prior "mechanic" had smashed the front fitting with what looked like vice grip pliers, and, the fitting end of the hose was real sloppy-loose-floppy. Not rigid at all.
We eventually replaced the fuel filter to fenderwell line with a good junk yard part. My research on line showed a new one to be north of 250.00

If it is leaking at the fender well fittings, you might be able to get new o-rings for the male ends.

It was leaking right above the gas tank and dripping over the front of the tank.

I've actually replaced the fuel filter and it's rock solid.

Screw "might be able" to get this or that. I'm going to the j/y and getting everything I can find.

I'm still saying there HAD to be a reason that fitting came apart by hand.

Again, sorry to bump my own thread, however, I just found out some news tonight. Because of this, this infernal machine needs to be roadworthy and for sale by the end of this weekend. (No, she's not pregnant)

Looks like I'll be hitting up the yards earlier than expected.

Ok gents I finally had some time to get to the j/y and I got everything I needed.

I swapped out the larger of the two fuel lines (that's the one that was leaking), the evap? line going from the tank to some black box above the spare tire, and I even managed to get a replacement tank pressure sensor.

Took me about 5 hours to do everything (and that's not including j/y time!). Man, I FROZE MY ASS OFF in that j/y today!!

It was worth it, though. Took it for a test drive and no more leak!

Next is a for sale sign. Need it gone.
