I am putting in a new Alpine head unit and it has an output around 26 RMS...I figured it'd be easier to just leave the stock amp in the car and run it through it but I read the amp only puts out around 10-15RMS. If I run the speakers through the stock amp will I get 10-15 or will it add on to the Alpine's output and give me something like 36-40RMS???

Thanks

you will only get what the stock amp puts out, you have to bypass the amp to get the output of your stereo to your speakers... search for amp bypass I know there was a thread on it not too long ago.

The stock Ford amp puts out 20 Watts RMS per channel (X four channels). Do not feed a speaker level input to it from an aftermarket radio.

You should by-pass the Ford amp completely if you're going to use an aftermarket head unit.

thanks so much guys, hoipwfully it wont be too hard

Just wondering, is there anywhere I can buy an aftermarket amp that would be more powerful that I can just put in place of the stock one. I havent looked at the stock one so I don't know what type of amp i'd need.
