smokes from exhaust when I start it up some times worse then others, Its white smoke, it will smoke some times and other times it wont. I am thinking maybe a head gasket? but the weird thing is after driving it a while it clears up, like I said sometimes it will smoke like crazy then it wont smoke at all. It not losing power and its not sputtering...... Any input will be great thanks:help:

oh and there is no water in the oil......

27 views no replys....nice.....thanks guys

Wow.

First, 24 hours before bumping threads.
Second, Did you consider that the people that looked in didn't have an answer?
Third, I had a thought until I got to the last post.

Have you tried any (there are two) of the SEARCH tools? This site has been in existence as long as your truck and lots if info in the archives.

That recommendation isn't in the forum rules either...but it should be.

Yeah- the bump rule should be in there, because some of you guys think you're entitled to an answer like we're a paid service desk just waiting to answer your question, and get all pissy because someone didn't answer your question as quickly as you like.

Tell ya what- you pay my salary to answer your questions, and I'll wait by the computer for you.

$20 says you were hoping to GOD there wasn't actually a written bump rule in the FAQ while you were looking for it, because I seriously doubt you read it before posting anyhow.

CLICK ME Even though it's customary all over the internet, thought I'd point it out since this is probably the first day you've been on the interweb.

Sorry Joe, I dropped the ball on this one:roll: :D

I promise to be on my game for next week!

O and to try and answer the question at hand, what temp does the problem arise?

Thanks Jeremy- really- can you PLEASE try to make sure you get to work on time? This 'arrive at 10am and leave at 2pm with a 2 hour lunch" schedule you've been keeping is getting completely out of hand.

...except the day you bought pizza- that was cool. :D

well sir you owe me $20 because it is one of the first things I read on this site.
Matter of fact its one of the first things I read on all of the fourms I belong to.

Oh and nice way to handle the situation.

So how bout this, you pay for my $20 for me to become a member and we will call it even........

Everyone is a comidian huh?

So +1 on the whole bumping thing....
If your gonna b*tch about it make it a rule.

Mike

Stop being an ass, and we won't have to handle the situation that way. Or did you forget about that part?

I'd be happy to donate $20.

...for one of the members that is willing to help other people- not one that chastises them for not answering his question in the timeframe HE chooses.

Keep going... but it might help for you to search for an answer instead. It's ok- that's free too. And if you're on all of these forums, you know all about a 24 hour bump.

play nice or i will Larry Moe and Curly both of you,,, lol

so tell us , did you pull the spark plugs to see which one, or ones were wet with coolant in the morning before driving it ?
that will tell you alot, and quickly,,

well you see if yall want a bump rule then make one if not...I say bump away....There is only one forum that I am on that has a bump rule and thats TampaRacing.

In other words if I was an elite member my question would have been answered already right?

Nope, I've waited days sometimes. Doesn't matter if you're Elite or not, we all play by the same rules. Seriously- sometimes it just takes time. We had some serious chit go down here this week losing a very valued member, and some people just aren't online much right now. It's just a matter of patience. It's not a full time job, the right person may not be on the first day, two, maybe a week. But we'll sure as heck try, as long as there isn't a "thanks a lot" like that.

As corkey said- have you pulled a plug? If you goose the throttle, does the temp gauge jump at all? Do you have access to a scanner/code reader that has live data that you can hook up to see coolant temp? Are you sure it's smoke and not vapor? Does whatever it is have a smell?

No everything is fine when I hit the gas hard, and its smoke and no it dont smell funny

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa- That stinks. :(

What engine do you have in your Ex / how many miles? Have you had it a while, or is it new to you recently?

My OHV 4.0L in my '95 did some smoking once in a while too. I know the rings at 230k were exhibiting some blowby as well.

Best thing to do is check the plugs- it will help isolate which cylinder(s) is/are having issues
