Ok this weekend i'm going to the cottage in the EX for the first time. Last time I went in was with a 91 S10 Blazer 2 DR. my question is does any one know the limitations of the 4 DR XLT in comparison to the Blazer?

Any info would be helpful

-Thanks Adam

I take it they were both 4 wheel drive. If so then you should have a more comfortable ride that will take farther!

Im just worried about ground clearance and the EX has no skid plates

That could be a problem. It is a 4x4 right? The clearance isn't the best but with some careful driving and maybe a spot or two you should be ok. Maybe I should ask what the conditions are like?

Yes it is 4wd. The conditions are not to bad, last time I was up they jus filed the trail in with gravel but that was a year ago. The trail at the worst I have ever seen it was a little muddy at parts a river crossing and some flat rock face.

Then you should have no problems at all. Just be a little careful about the gas tank. And when in doubt get out and look or have some one spot you. Do you have a locker or limited slip? I was at Truckhaven and was amazed at what a stock X could do and with a few mods they were going everywhere!

The worst I have ever seen the river was when the water was coming up over the hood of the Blazer

Thanks for the help

Then be careful of your air intake!!! Not sure where they are located on the later models but I thought I read somewhere that its in front down by the bumper. Also careful not to flood you diffs and tranny. The over flow lines aren't sitting to high!
