97 Explorer XLT- AC not cold

I recently purchased a 97 Explorer XLT- AC is not blowing cold air. ROOKIE here who cannot afford to take it to a PRO.
HELP!

Quick check--
does the compressor cycle?

Yes it does cycle, but the air is just not COLD. It is somewhat cool but when it is in the mid to upper 90s it doesnt cool the vehicle down enough.

Try this, as silly as it may sound--
switch the temp control to "warm"

do you feel a definite switch to hot air, then cool when switched back to cool?
