98 5.0 V8 XLT AC/Heat routing thru defrost only!?!

Hey there, I'm new to forums but am glad I've found it... what a great resource for all of us Explorer owners.

Here's my issue, hopefully someone can help me:

All AC/Heat is being routed thru my front defrost vents, heat and AC still work and the fan level still works, but it's just misrouted. Basically everything functions normally except it only comes out of the front defrost vents... it makes no diffrence whether it's set to feet, front vents, whatever, everything only comes out up front... so frustrating. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm hoping its just a hose or something I could fix myself, so please feel free to be specific if you think you might know what's going on.
