Hey folks....my 98 Sport has just developed delayed starting on these cold mornings. It cranks like the battery is good and then finally fires after the second or third try. Warm weather brought quick starts. I've read the threads on the IAC. I have no whining sounds and it idles real smooth once it starts. I'm gonna get a new battery cause I don't know how old this one is. The eye is still green. I read about a check valve in the fuel pump in another thread but why just in the cold weather? If a fuel pump check valve is bad...its bad in warm weather and cold.....no?? Any help with this will be appreciated.

It could be a number of things.. Maybe the fuel pump is pushing out enough fuel when it primes, maybe crankshaft position sensor, maybe the starter solenoid, etc..

If it's your original battery, that's probably it. Mine did the same thing. Slower start in cold weather, even with green eye, then battery eventually died.
