1998 Ford Explorer XLT
Hey everyone, looking to get everyone's opinions. I recently inherited a 1998 Explorer Xlt with the SOHC 4.0. 4x4 cloth interior Gray in color.
i appreciate the trucks classic looks and body on frame construction, however I certainly don't need another truck sitting around. What do you all think would be a fair value. the truck is in great shape some rust on the frame, very minor rust on body. everything works as it should 68,000 miles. good tires. great interior.\
The truck was owned by my grandma and served her well from new until her passing. thank you all for your input

These don’t have a ton of value due to their problematic motors and transmissions. Both are fairly flawed. Depending on the body rust I’d guess $1500-2500.

Thanks for your input. not looking to get rich, just don't want to list for too much, I would be happy with a thousand bucks honestly just want a good home for it.

with those miles I would shoot for $2500-2000
Is it a 4wd? How are the tires?

Live in the Mpls metro area and might be interested; although I'm all too familiar with MN rust issues. I swore I'd never buy another used car from around here...but, low mileage on the drivetrain is tempting.

$2500 - $rust$ (depends on how bad, rust could reduce it to $1K if bad enough).

Once covid dust settles, $2000 - rust.

Meh, at only 68K mi, I don't think that changes the value much. Desirability to US, since we know, sure.

yea the truck is pretty solid, My grandma in law owned it. literally drove to the grocery store and doctors visits for 15 years and was stored in her garage in between. I tried to justify keeping it but I own 2 other 4x4 vehicles already.

A '98 SOHC 4WD is considered selectable, only way it came besides RWD. 4hi (full time), 4low (full time) and Auto (RWD then engages front when speed sensors don't match).

Considering newish condition tires, you might try listing it for $3K and see if you get any bites. You can always lower that later.
