When I lock the doors I can thumb the button and pop the window on the rear hatch, unlock the doors and the window locks? Am I doing it wrong or is something reversed? I assume there is something in there so the window wont pop if that hatch is open but this is crazy and I've tried every combo I can think of.
I can see a plug back there I'd be ok with having to use the key on the window part since I rarely use it anyway but I really dont like having to lock my doors then go back and lock that window manually, but I'd like the liftgate to operate normally.
I may pull the panel off when I get home and see if there is something in there that looks "backwards" but any insight is appreciated. I found some threads on replacing the actuator but I don't think thats it since it does lock and unlock, just "out of phase" with the other locks.

just change the polarity of the actuator, it might have been replaced and whoever did it, didn't plug it correctly

Is there a separate actuator for the liftgate and the liftgate window?? I played around with it last night and they were "in synch" for a while then out again.
I'm thinking something mechanical in there, found some metal clips holding on the rear panel, is that it? just pry and yank, or is it like my old 94 stang where you pop a few clips then had to lift up on the door panel to pop some other holders our of the grooves.

No, there's only one, at least on my 97, maybe the actuator itself is bad, doesn't fully lock, and pops back, check on that...
Start taking the trim from the top, at the very bottom there are some hooks that you need to slide up, if you just pull it you'll break those

Gotcha, thanks, I'll pop it off and take a peek this weekend.

There's a few more steps involved....

OPEN the rear window, remove the trim plug next to the window latch, then remove the philips head screw that holds the trim in place. Leave the window open, and open the hatch. Remove the two screws that hold the pull handle in place and remove the handle. Pull on the trim across the top and down both sides of the windlw to release the spring clips. IIRC, there are three across the top and two on each side. Once the clips are loose, push the whole thing towards the roof of the truck. Be careful it doesn't land on your head. :)

Well I removed it like 4 years ago when my actuator broke, so I might have forgotten those steps :D

tore into this yesterday, for the life of me I can't figure out wth was going on. I could not see any way to hook it up to make them lock and unlock together without spinning that pushbutton lock around. I didn't feel like getting into it that deep so i disconnected the linkage to the liftgate window and made it "manual". With as much as I use it that will be fine by me. Now to figure out the locks in this thing!!
