99 explorer, 5.0 l . Has spark and fuel pressure. Theft light is off. If I spray starter fluid into the throttle body it will run for a few seconds. Haven't checked the injectors with a noid light but I don't think the injectors are getting a pulse. Any ideas?

You need 64 psi of fuel pressure, not just "some pressure"

is the theft light blinking when you crank the starter or does it go out?
Any check engine light before this?

My bet is you have low fuel pressure OR a bad CRANK SENSOR or the CAM synchronizer took a dump :)

Theft light goes out. There was an O2 heater circuit code and an egr low volume code. Those were cleared and there are no codes now. I'll get ahold off a fuel pressure gauge to check the pressure .When I checked the Schrader valve gas shot out pretty hard so I don't think it's a fuel pressure problem.

30 psi will shoot fuel across the shop, so will 65 psi
Your system needs 64 psi to run properly, just sayin! I hear you though quick check is to press in schrader valve and see pressure.
So you fixed the 02 sensor circuit code and EGR code? or just cleared the codes?

Hello, I had similar issue would crank but no start. turns out it was a $17.00 crankshaft position sensor..I replaced it myself..only 2 bolts but mine is a 97 4.0 so I'm not sure if placement is same. I will say on mine, the lower bolt was hard to get at so if you turn the wheel all the way to the right, I could reach it no problem from wheelwell on passenger side

Well I checked the fuel pressure , less than 10 lbs. Looks like I'll be dropping the tank.

yes the 5.0 has a crank sensor also, similar sensor similar location, on the crank damper front bottom of engine
When the crank sensor goes out you will have no spark, so a simple check for spark is a good idea

way to go!
