So about 2 months ago I started feeling small misfires on my 99' ford explorer, didn't pay attention to it much until it started getting really bad then I started searching for the problem. Until now I've spoken with many mechanics all have given me different answers and possible issues, my guess is that some ass hole put sugar in my gas tank causing the gas filters to clog up (I haven't checked them yet) not sure if this is the cause though because if they were clogged up I doubt the car would of ran as long as it did. Cylinders seem to be working fine no errors show up when I took it to get tested, anyone have any suggestions as to what I should replace? Thanks in advance.

Logical first step....plugs and wires? I had a pretty nasty misfire myself recently. We pulled the plugs and they were poorly gapped and fouled by a recent Seafoam treatment. Even after we put in new plugs, one of the plugs was faulty and once that was replaced, she fired up without incident and hasn't misfired since.
