pretty sure that jeep XJ's, YJ's, and TJ's (and probably the ZJ and WJ b/c i've seen XJ's with ZJ wheels) all have the same 5 on 4.5 pattern as us.

i've found the bolt pattern is identical...but what about backspacing??

I'm not sure if the hub center diameter is exactly the same. I gave my buddy my spare for awhile, and he said it didn't fit on his heep quite right. His is older tho, it's a 89 sporttuck :D

The bolt pattern is the same, but the hub bore and backspacing are different. The X backspacing is 4 5/8", and the Cherokee has 5 1/8" backspacing. The Jeep hub bore is smaller than the X's.

Bottom line is; the X wheels will bolt up to the Cherokee, but they will stick out from the fenderwell 1/2 inch more than the stock Cherokee wheels (assuming both are 7" width wheels).

Also since the Jeep hub is smaller the wheels will be lug-centric as opposed to hub-centric. This basically means he'll have to check his studs and lugs more often and is more likely to snap a stud. But many vehicles come stock lug-centric, so it's not uncommon to be set up that way.

Same question,, Can I put stock jeep rims with 18's on my 96 explorer

Rob, welcome to the Board!:)

I don't quite understand the question. To my knowledge, Jeeps didn't come stock with 18" diameter wheels. Maybe you meant 16"?

Regardless, I think the answer is no. I tried to fit 2000 model Jeep "Eccos" on my Explorer, and they wouldn't fit. The bolt pattern is the same, but the bore diameter is smaller on the Jeep rims. They wouldn't go over the X's hub.

Even if you machined out the hub bore, the backspacing is greater on the Jeep rims. This would set the wheel inboard in the wheel well, and reduce the overall track. Not a good idea......
