My clutch on my A/C won't kick in. This is what I found out so far. I checked the compressor connection harness and there was 13.5 volts. But the clutch did kick in when I jumped it at the relay so it will work. The low pressure switch shows over 12 volts, but when I jump it the clutch doesn't kick in. The fuses, and relay are good. The EATC seams to work on where the air goes, vents, flour, defrost ext. The only time a voltage shows up at the relay is when the ignition, and air or turned on. It shows about 14.2 volts. Is there another kill switch I don't know of, or could it be the EATC not be giving the command to turn the clutch on? The blend door actuator isn't hooked up I tried to replace it but the new part didn't work. Does this have to be there to start the A/C clutch?

I had same problem before and fixed the problem....

Try this procedure, start the engine and turn the A/C on the try to tap the A/C clutch plate see if engage... the reason is sometimes when the clutch plate is worn the magnetic on the A/C could not reach strong enough to pull the plate.

The solution, try to undo the 10mm bolt on the middle of the clutch plate and you will see a flat washer, try to find a thinner washer close enough to the magnetic (not touching).... try that because that was the reason on my A/C for not coming on ;)

walked outside with a small hammer to peck on it like you said, and the instant I turned the A/C on I hear the clutch click on. It did cycle a few times but it was cooler outside so maybe it was doing what it is supposed to. If so it's a miracle. but I will keep the hammer close. By the way if it does act up again where did you find different size washers, or did you customize them your self. thanks for your reply it was very helpful.

that's good

about the washers, well need to improvise or buy a washer from your local A/C car shops...
Mine was I have to improvise and look for a similar washer but thinner, just try to take the 10mm bolt which not hard and it maybe there's two washers there and take off one and see... I came across with two washers before, just luck I guess... :salute:

Well today I looked at the clutch and the gap did look a little big. However wile trying to engage the clutch so I could take the bolt out I pushed the auto button, and it stopped working even when I pushed the max button again. I afraid there may be a issue with the EATC not sending the command to the clutch to start. Know anything about fixing those? This whole thing is driving me nuts. Just wondering as long as it isn't pulling juice from the battery would it be ok to jump the clutch when I want to use the A/C or will this break something. I know the Freon is ok I checked it with a manifold gage.
