A/C compressor cover?

Hi. I was looking under the hood of my explorer and saw something in my engine compartment. It seems that the front cover/dampener from my a/c compressor fell off. How is this attached and will driving without it cause problems. There is nothing in my Haynes manual on this and a search of this site produced no results. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

There is no cover on the AC compressor. Clutch yes, cover no.

Mine fell off. How is this held on? I am assuming it is a bolt or screw. If so, what size? Thanks.

Thank You. That is exactly what I needed. As for the shims, How do I know which one I need?

use the old one or if it is not there purchase a new one. Then assemble and check the gap. It should be .014 to .030 inch. if not in spec add enough shims to bring in spec. Most auto supply stores have the shims in stock.
