A/C compressor pulley bearing...

I have a noise that seems to come from compressor. Sounds similar to an exhaust leak but the sound goes away when AC is turned off. Has anyone encountered this or tried to replace the AC compressor pulley bearing or clutch assembly?

Dealer of course said you have to replace entire compressor to get new pulley and bearing which makes no sense to me...

Link? I saw a couple of threads that are unrelated to the op. My wife's makes this noise too, drives me crazy.

Don't have one. Search will probably find it for you. May have been merged into another thread. It was a thread about a guy's AC compressor pulled that destroyed itself.
