Have a 93 4 door explorer 4x4. Just put a 97 motor in it an wanting to get the ac working. The light comes on when a/c is pushed on. I used a jumper wire on the pressure switch an the comp. finally kicked on. I added a can of 134a but noticed i forgot to put the lil tube back on the hole from the comp. line to the comp. so figuring it went straight out that. But was wondering how do you do a pressure test on the a/c unit/lines to make sure all leaks are taken care of before spending more money to have the freon leak out? Thanks in advance

First, do not run it for more than like a second with the wire...you will fry the compressor, I did.......

Well, you can fill her up with 134a, like 2 cans and see if that helps ( i buy the cheapest $8), but the only other way to check for leaks that i know of is pull a vacuum and check. I will bet that you can get a draw down and fill for %50 bux locally and that will tell you. They will not fill it if it does not hold a vacuum. IF it does, they will fill it and that ought o do the trick.

AS for the "...lil tube back on the hole from the comp...", I am not sure that that is, but yes it might have leaked all the 134A out!

Get a $50 vacuum and fill, dont let anyone sell you a big expensive AC part, just go the $50 and see what happens.... AC is actually not that big a deal, although they charge BIG $ for it in the heat of the summer due to demand...!

The vacuum draw down does 2 things,it checks for leaks and removes the air and moisture from your system. You also have a drier and if the system has been open to the air for a while you will need a new drier,it has a desiccant pack in it and will be ruined,as in full of water and growing green crud.:D
