Just getting the front end braced up and mounts made.

DIGGIN It !!!!!!

After it seeming like forever the front has been welded solid to the cab while doing some rough bracing underneath I got to test out my hinge/mounts on the front. Surprising enough it worked great first try.

Did not see the front forward hinge coming.

Did I not read a post?
That is absolutely great.

Big cheers .

I dont think you missed anything. Wasn't gonna commit to it until I found out If I could do it. But in one way I had to do it. Since the radiator sits below the fenders and the cap is underneath. So I didn't want to have a hole cut in the top of the fenders to be able to fill it.

you gonna go with the ratrod look or get the body looking slick?

Wow!!!

That's turning out great. I don't think you will see too many others like it. Have you decided on a color yet? Can't wait too see more.:smoke::thumbsup:

Subscribed because this is incredibly awesome.

the plan for body work for now is strip it all to bare metal. And either candy and clear or just clear it. For color I'm not for sure yet. When and if I get around to actually finishing all the bodywork and making it perfect it will probably be a very dark purple. Since its been in the family for many years and always referred to as "the Purple Pickup". But Im sure thats a long ways off.

Awesome. Pure awesome. I just pulled some better (dual piston caliper) front brakes for my 1st gen from a dead '96 ford ranger that was deep purple, so I now have great affection for the color. Good choice!

Also, for that 'one day' when you pick out really nice rims, I found that American Racing makes an ATX Chamber in Teflon that fits the 1st gen X's, both in the 15" and 16" variety. I thought that they looked damned cool so I figured I'd point em out to you, just in case the the jeep ones bite the dust one day.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check em out.

How about a candy apple purple?

Not that easy to spray or touch up but it looks cool.

That color is amazing! Not a fan of flames though but still very nice

Candies are very nice colors, But I think I will stay away from them. They have low UV protection and as well are not that fun to touch up. I used candy green on my old bike and it faded out real bad with sitting in the sun after three months.

Right after I painted it.

After 3 months.

sorry for the lack of work and updates, Finally got my steering hooked up. amazing what a piece of a cheap pry bar can do.

Looks like a good solution, and way cheaper than what I did. Just promise me that you'll look over those welds every now and then looking for stress fractures, as welds on steering components make me a bit nervous. (I'm almost a hypochondriac about welds on critical components)
